FIFA 13 Passing Controls

Move = Xbox 360 Button Input / Playstation 3 Button Input

Ground Pass = A / X

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the A / X button for longer will put more power in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

If there is only one team-mate in the direction you’re aiming then the pass will just have more power in it if you charge for longer.

 

Ground Pass & Move = A (whilst holding LB) / X (whilst holding L1)

By holding down LB / L1 whilst passing, your player will make a forward run after kicking the ball.

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the A / X button for longer will put more power in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

If there is only one team-mate in the direction you’re aiming then the pass will just have more power in it if you charge for longer.

 

Trick Ground Pass = A (whilst holding RB) / X (whilst holding R1)

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a fancy pass to a team-mate in that direction. You’ll perform a special skill-move-looking pass that may differ each time you attempt it.

Players with the Flair Trait can perform a larger range of Trick Passes and with greater accuracy etc. These passes are generally less accurate and don’t always use the right amount of power.

 

Hocus-Pocus Pass = A (whilst holding Forward on Left Thumbstick & RB) / X (whilst holding Forward on Left Thumbstick & R1)

You must be standing to perform this move but is quite hard to do and a lot of the time you’ll just get a Trick-Pass instead.

You do not need the Flair Trait to perform this.

 

Fake Swing Pass = Hold Forward-Left or Forward-Right on Left Thumbstick and press A whilst holding RB / Hold Forward-Left or Forward-Right on Left Thumbstick and press X whilst holding R1

This is quite hard to do and a lot of the time you will just get a Trick Pass instead. You also need the Flair Trait to perform this.

I have found using around 50% power gets this move to come out more often.

 

Lobbed Pass = X / ☐

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the X / ☐ button for longer will put more power & height in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

 

Low Drilled Pass = X (whilst holding RB) / ☐ (whilst holding R1)

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the X / ☐ button for longer will put more power in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

These are like Ground Passes but more powerful and generally less accurate. You should play these if you need to get a pass to a player quickly but don’t want to play a through ball.

 

Through Pass = Y / Δ

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the Y / Δ button for longer will put more power in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

If there is only one team-mate in the direction you’re aiming then the pass will just have more power in it if you charge for longer.

 

Lobbed Through Pass = Y (whilst holding LB) / Δ (whilst holding L1)

Whilst aiming with the Left Thumbstick, press the input to play a pass to a team-mate in that direction. Charging the Y / Δ button for longer will put more power & height in the pass whilst aiming for a player further away in the direction that you are aiming in.

If there is only one team-mate in the direction you’re aiming then the pass will just have more power in it if you charge for longer.

 

Trigger Player Run = LB (whilst aiming with Left Thumbstick) / L1 (whilst aiming with Left Thumbstick)

Whilst dribbling, aim for a player with the Left Thumbstick and then by pressing LB / L1, that player will make a forward run.

 

Rabona Pass = X (whilst holding LT) / ☐ (whilst holding L2)

The Rabona is when your player swings his leg around his standing leg to kick the ball. A player needs the Flair Trait to perform this.

To perform this, the ball needs to be slightly off-center to your player’s front, otherwise you will just kick the ball normally or perform the Scoop.

If the ball is at the center of your front then you can still perform the Rabona, you just have to aim it to the side of your player.

 

Scoop = X (whilst holding LT) / ☐ (whilst holding L2)

To perform the Scoop, the player you want to do it with needs the Flair Trait.

You need to be aiming straight ahead of you to perform this move and the ball needs to be at the center of your front.

Charging the X / ☐ button for longer will put more power & height in the Scoop.

 

Cross = X / ☐

To perform a Cross, you need to be in a Crossing Position.

Charging the X / ☐ button to a different amount will cross the ball to a different target.

If you are using Assisted Crossing then tapping X / ☐ will play a cross to a player at the back-post.

 

Early Cross = X (whilst holding LB) / ☐ (whilst holding L1)

To perform an early Cross, you need to be on the wing in the opposition’s half.

Charging the X / ☐ button to a different amount will cross the ball to a different target.

If you are using Assisted Crossing then tapping X / ☐ will play a cross to a player at the back-post.

 

Near-Post Cross = Double-tap X / Double-tap ☐

To perform a Cross, you need to be in a Crossing Position.

The Near-Post Cross will be aimed to a team-mate at the near-post but if there is no team-mate there then you will play a low cross towards the back-post area.

 

Ground Cross = Triple-tap X / Triple-tap ☐

To perform a Cross, you need to be in a Crossing Position.

This will perform a very quick cross along the ground to a team-mate. Sometimes the cross will have very bad accuracy however and may not go to anyone.

 

Fake Shot/Pass = Press Short Pass whilst holding either Lobbed Pass or Shoot

If you hold the Left Thumbstick in a direction whilst doing this move then you will flick the ball in that direction. If you don’t hold the Left Thumbstick in any direction then you will take a fake swing at the ball then stop it.

 

Swing ‘n’ a Miss = Press Short Pass whilst holding either Lobbed Pass or Shoot (whilst holding LT / L2)

You need to be standing to perform this but any player in the game can do it.

You take a big swing over the ball without touching it.
